Unilever Ice Cream Factory – Midrand

Description of Project:

The project South Pole by Unilever South Africa (PTY) was the construction and commissioning of Unilever’s new ice cream factory located in Midrand, South Africa. The location of the project site is approximately 583 km from Durban/534km from Maputo Sea Port. The project site encompasses approximately 10.05 Hectares and has a useable platform area of 9.3 hectares in size. L&T and Unilever SA appointed Vitruvius Consulting Civil and Structural as their locally based South African partner to facilitate and provide services to the project. The work carried out by Vitruvius was routed through L&T, who were appointed for the Detailed Design and Engineering Co-ordination to take the design to a level of completion from where it was approved by Vitruvius and issued for construction. 

Services Rendered:

The scope of work for Vitruvius Consulting involved the design, sign-off, South African compliance check and site supervision of the works listed below. Vitruvius consulting was locally responsible for all the civil and structural designs.
